00:00 –Thank You for Being a Friend (Andrew Gold Cover)

Liner Notes

Covers From An Empty House #6

Today’s Cover From An Empty House is a ‘Gratitune’ for the staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (@vanderbilthealth). I’m glad to show my gratitude and support for the hard work they are doing to keep our community safe. Check out www.gratitunes.org and send a message of encouragement by using the hashtags #VUMCHeroes and #Gratitunes in a social post.
Also, sidenote, the second verse lyrics are almost exactly what the original Andrew Gold version of the song was, which is awesome.

00:00 – I Want It That Way (Backstreet Boys Cover)

Liner Notes

Covers From An Empty House #5

Max Martin’s smash of smashes for the @backstreetboys. Man what a beautiful melody, and at the same time, I still have no idea what this song is about. V big shoutout to my neighbor @jonmclaughlin for not showing me up on piano in this video because we all know he could one handed.

00:00 – Hung The Moon (Drew Holcomb Cover)

Liner Notes

Covers From An Empty House #4

When I heard my good buddy @drewholcombmusic and his wife @ellieholcomb would be covering a song of mine in their nightly cover series, I knew I had to return the favor. We did a tour together a million years ago (including potentially my favorite show of all time) and I have many fond memories of hanging with Drew. He has beaten me in several foot races in hotel and cruise ship hallways, and we have played a lot of golf together (he will tell you he beats me more often than not but you know I will contest that). Here is ‘Hung The Moon’ with a little added zest on the third verse.

Liner Notes

Covers From An Empty House #2

If you go to grew up going to church, you know this song. If that isn’t your thing or your tradition, no worries, you can still bask in this (literally) timeless melody. Pro tip: I was feeling it on this pass and decided to just roll on into singing, so keep watching if you want to hear that.

I also did it on electric and couldn’t tell what I liked more? We’ve all got some time on our hands, so here’s another take.

Randy Newman, one of my all time favorites. Playing one of my favorite guitars, a 50s Martin 018 in a weird tuning, (C#-G#-C#-F-G#-C#). Hope you enjoy and that it takes your mind off the craziness for a second. Thanks for listening.
